DESCRIPTION
This deluxe 4CD set collects all of the band’s Chrysalis years recordings. Featuring Mandalaband (1975) and The Eye of Wendor: Prophecies (1978), remastered from the original tape transfers with a 2024 David Rohl remix of both albums (alongside the original mixes) plus nine rare bonus tracks. Presented in a clamshell box with a booklet featuring liner notes and previously unseen photographs. Overview Mandalaband began life in the early 1970’s, gaining cult status as one of the most forward-thinking prog outfits of the time. The brainchild of David Rohl, who brought in an array of the best musicians at the time including future Sad Café members Vic Emerson, Ashley Mulford, John Stimpson, Tony Cresswell and vocalist Dave Durant as well as the entire Barclay James Harvest, Eric Stewart (10cc), Maddy Prior (Steeleye Span), Justin Hayward (Moody Blues), Graham Gouldman, Lol Creme & Kevin Godley (10cc) and Paul Young.
Mandalaband received critical acclaim and gained admirers from tastemakers of the day, with legendary BBC radio DJ John Peel a particularly strong supporter, while sophomore The Eye of Wendor: Prophecies told a Tolkienesque fantasy through different vocalists playing the roles of the leading characters in the story.
